Is Allah the same God as the Christian God?

When Muslims are asked whether Allah is the same God as the Christian God, many Muslims will reply, "yes." Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet of the one true God, but that Muhammad was the last true prophet.

But Muslims

(1) do not believe Jesus was crucified on a cross,
(2) do not believe Jesus died on that cross, and
(3) do not believe Jesus was resurrected after 3 days by God.

Muslims also do not believe

(4) that Jesus is the only way to God, or
(5) that God is Jesus' heavenly Father, or
(6) that Jesus is coequal with God - all of which Jesus claimed as being true.

So how can Allah be the same God as the Christian God?

Either :

(1) Jesus is who He declared Himself to be, or
(2) Jesus was deceived as to who He believed Himself to be, or
(3) Jesus was a liar.

Let's put the Christian God in true perspective!

(1) If Jesus did not die on a cross, the Christian God is a false God.
(2) If God did not raise Jesus from the dead after 3 days, the Christian God is a false God.
(3) If Jesus is not the only way to God, the Christian God is a false God.
(4) If Jesus is not coequal with God, the Christian God is a false God.
(5) If Jesus was deceived as to who He was, the Christian God is a false God.
(6) If Jesus was a liar, the Christian God is a false God.

Let's put the Muslim God in true perspective.

(1) If Jesus did die on a cross, and God raised Him from the dead after 3 days, the Muslim God is a false God.
(2) If Jesus is the only way to God, the Muslim God is a false God.
(3) If Jesus is coequal with God, the Muslim God is a false God.
(4) If Jesus was not deceived as to who He was, the Muslim God is a false God.
(5) If Jesus was not a liar, the Muslim God is a false God.

If Jesus is who He declared Himself, it's time to stop saying Allah is the same God as the Christian God.

Yes because they recognize him as the God of Abraham, as do Jews and Christians fundamentally. They may not hold Jesus in as high a regard as we Christians do, but that does not mean they do not believe in the same "God"... our God.

This is a horrible progression of logical statements featuring your own biases. If Muslims (and Jews as well) can trace back their religion to a commonality, i.e. the books of the Old Testament and those teaching, then logically (and I mean logically in the academic sense) we believe in the same God, it's just that all three major religious divisions have went about things their own way. By Christian beliefs this is obviously a huge impediment in them getting to Heaven, i.e. they don't hold Jesus in the same regard we do, but they still believe in the same commmon God with a set of morals that values peace and respect for your common man. The ramifications of all these factors with respect to both Jews and Muslims I do not think neither you nor I are qualified to guess on (or to discuss in an educated manner in your case seeing as you have done studies on this). Let God decide, and if I am let into Heaven and I see Jewish, Muslim, and other bretheren there I will be happy. If not I will pray for them. If I do not make it to Heaven I hope they all pray for my soul, Christian, Jew, Muslim, anyone.

You seem to consistently want to alienate others who don't see things your way. You wait for people to bite when you bring up new topics and then you respond with what I recollect you saying is four years of education worth of studying the Bible skewed such that you get to declare how much you know or put someone else down, unless someone believes the exact same way you do. Ask yourself, is God proud of that?

I've found a few of hokie bird's questions appropriate, as they have caused me to pause and assess some of my beliefs. I agree that some seem to be posted so that a point may be proved, such as the Allah one.

It it not posted to prove a point... honest.It is just that a lot of people accept anything as being truth and it is not... the media teaches this....I am not always right.. just hard headed... but in this article I was just stating facts and from the facts I came up with my statements... I think a lot of you make a mole hill into a mountain... If you were to ask me if Muslims will go to heaven... would we not have to say no... for the reason that they do not belive in Jesus as the son of God, he died, rose again? Without this faith we are all lost. Is that the truth or have I been reading the Bible wrong?

That is your belief, what if it is not mine? Do you know it to be true? I know that my belief is true as well. That makes all things relevant. Why is it that Jesus is your only way to heaven, what about enlightenment or what if heaven doesnt exist we have all been lied to? What if you come back in another form, according to how you lived in the previous life? there are other beliefs besides Christianity and this is a religion forum not a tent revival.
Discussing topics is one thing. Conversion is entirely different, and IMO, diametrically opposed to discussion.

Okay... I am confused here... did you not read my first article? They do not believe Jesus Is the son of God, did not die on the cross, and was not raised from the dead... we as Chrristans believe this which is how we are saved. Only one way to God and that is through Jesus.

Another thing that is not true how you say I lure peole in... it just amazes me how we as Christians do not take a stand on sound beliefs.. we just say oh it is okay God loves them... who are we to judge them?
